Comedian Alistair McGowan is set to make an impression on ITV1 with a new sports entertainment show, to go into production in the summer.

You Cannot Be Serious! will feature clips, impressions and topical sketches based on the week's sport.

Harry Hill, the show's executive producer, said McGowan was "the best impressionist in the country".

The 47-year-old is also a keen sports fan, having contributed to BBC 5 live's Wimbledon coverage in 2011.

Named after John McEnroe's famous catchphrase, You Cannot Be Serious! was commissioned after a successful pilot episode last year.

Recently, McGowan has been spending time on the stage, taking over from Rupert Everett in a West End production of Pygmalion, opposite Strictly Come Dancing champion Kara Tointon.
