George Clooney makes surprise appearance at New York Comic-Con
Hollywood newly-wed George Clooney has surprised fans at a New York comic book convention by turning up to plug his upcoming Disney fantasy Tomorrowland.
"It's not lost on me that I'm spending my honeymoon at Comic-Con," joked the 53-year-old on Thursday at a panel event to promote the 2015 release.
The actor went on to say his new bride, human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin, was "confused" about what a Comic-Con was.
Clooney and Alamuddin, 36, tied the knot in Venice, Italy on 27 September.
Named after the futuristic quadrant found in Disney's theme parks, Tomorrowland casts Clooney as an inventor who finds a way to travel to the fantastical realm of the title.
The actor's appearance was preceded by the premiere of a two-minute "teaser" trailer in which he briefly appears.
"We've been waiting on this for a year and a half and... I'm barely in the teaser,'' Clooney told Brad Bird, the film's Oscar-winning director.
Clooney was joined on the panel by Tomorrowland co-writer Damon Lindelof, British actor Hugh Laurie and two of their young co-stars.
The actor's future projects include a film about the phone-hacking scandal that has engulfed the British media in recent years.
