Your pictures: Japan

Each week we publish a gallery of readers' pictures on a set theme. This week the theme is Japan and we begin with a photo sent in by Tom and Armandina of the dramatic torii of Itsukushima.
Charles Tyack: "This may look like the Eiffel Tower, but it's Japan's take on the tower, and took the crown as tallest tower in the world when it was built in 1958."
Sarah Marks: "We stayed in a traditional Japanese ryokan in Asamaonsen when we visited in 2007. In this photo, we had just enjoyed a traditional welcoming green tea."
Aileen May Bayot: "My friend Jem defeated by the Samurai in Nikko, Japan."
Cathy Oxby: "This was taken at Tskiji fish market in Tokyo. It is fascinating to see the vast array of colours, shapes and sizes that come from the deep."

Keigo Moriyama took a ride on the underground network to get this shot of Tokyo life.
Steve McQueen: "I was coming down an escalator which gave a great vantage point for the shot. As I rushed to get the camera out of my pocket, the bride threw her bouquet of flowers just as I pressed the button to take the photo."
Jason Pemberton: "Ema wish tablets with Manga style characters left at Kanda Myojin Shinto Shrine in Tokyo, Japan."
Steve Logan: "A group of beautiful Geisha I saw waiting for a friend in the street in Kyoto."
Raoul Rechnitz: "I took this photo while sitting for two hours completely motionless in a small Sumo training room. We were not allowed to sit with legs crossed, so kneeling down, I captured this moment. The calmness of the men was so refreshing, but their strength was extraordinary."
Annegret Finlay: "Fresh tuna sold at Tokyo's world famous Tsukiji Fish Market."
