Your pictures: Tradition
Each week we publish a gallery of readers' pictures on a set theme. This week the theme is tradition and we begin with an image sent in by Hugo Talbot of the romantic tradition of couples in love attaching padlocks to a bridge - this one is in Venice.
Julie Cave: "Melting horseshoes on New Year's Eve in Finnish Lapland. The molten metal is poured into the snow and your future is told in the resulting pattern."
Edin Tuzlak: "A girl at the Gazi Husrev-bey Mosque in Sarajevo during a night prayer for the 27th night of Muslim holy month Ramadan."
David Cowper: "The Boxing Day raft race at Matlock Bath, Derbyshire, has taken place since the 1960s and attracts a wide range of entrants."
Nick Roberts: "Traditional costume for the annual beer and sausage Wurstfest in New Braunfels, Texas, USA."
Innes Marlow: "I took this at the annual Winchester Cathedral service for Hampshire's judges that marks the start of the legal year."
Sofia Graves: "The Boruca indigenous people wear their distinctive balsa wood masks at the traditional Diablitos Dance. The dance depicts the resistance of the little devil, representing the Boruca people, against the Spanish conquistadors (the bull)."
William Arblaster: "Traditional Highlands dress for a tribal show in Sogeri, Papua New Guinea. Their headwear consists of exotic bird of paradise feathers."
And finally a photo by Jac Crowley of a folk dancer in Salamanca, Spain. The next theme is "self-portrait" and the deadline for your entries is 12 February. If you would like to enter, send your pictures to yourpics@bbc.co.uk. Further details and terms can be found by following the link below this gallery.
