  1. #SocialMediaDay

Today is a special day for all social media activists

Mashable started this "day" in 2010 in recognition of social media’s impact on global communication.

Posters across the world are sharing their thoughts on #SocialMediaDay with nearly 60,000 tweets posted so far.

And every celebration deserves a piece of cake...

  2. The blonde bombshell bows out

Boris Johnson won't run for the next Conservative leader and prime minister

The former London mayor said he did not believe he could provide the leadership or unity that the party required.

Since he announced his intentions over 100,000 tweets have been sent about him... many reacting to the story with a combination of wit and wisdom...

  3. Never too old to be inked

Well-loved actress receives colourful birthday gift from daughter.

    Dame Judi Dench

The Mirror reveals that Dame Judi Dench is now sporting a tattoo at the grand age of 81.

The inking carries the quote “carpe diem”  or "seize the day".

It was a gift from her daughter Finty Williams.

And has inspired a lot of comments on Facebook so far... here's a few:

Pat Rowley writes - See grandchildren of mine - you're never too old for a tattoo I'am getting one on my 75 bday ha ha xx

But other posters aren't so convinced:

Marilyn Barlow said - What's the fascination with tattoos? I have never seen so many women as there are today with tattoos. I know each to their own, but if you have great legs etc,why cover them up with tattoos?

And some people find it too much of a painful subject:

Saima Ali - Good for her I'm going to get mine done but I'm just so scared of the pain... I'm a proper chicken me!

While others claim that you're never too old:

Kimberly Little I paid for my mam to have a tattoo for her 60th she is now 74. Good on Judy x

  4. Financial find

A good deed starts in a wardrobe

Good morning and happy Social Media Day!

Coming up, we'll be talking about the latest trends on social media including a UK city's plan to tackle poor parking.

First, we thought it was time for a good news story...

The Straits Times reports on a Syrian refugee in the German town of Minden who found 150,000 euros worth of cash and savings books and handed it to the police.

The man, called Mr Muhannad M, made the discovery in a wardrobe given to him by a local charity.

The story has proved popular on Facebook.
