  2. Weather: Light rain tonight turning heavier tomorrow

    It will be rather cloudy tonight with perhaps the odd spot of light rain, but most places will remain dry with a few clear intervals later. Staying largely frost-free with temperatures falling to 3C (37F).

  3. Great Britain's number two Aljaz Bedene fails in Davis Cup appeal

    The hopes of Hertfordshire tennis player, Aljaz Bedene, of playing Davis Cup tennis for Great Britain have been dashed once again after he lost his latest appeal.

    The 26-year-old has twice played for his native Slovenia in the competition which, the International Tennis Federation board says, means he can't play for Britain.

  4. Luton rally against school academy plans

    Teaching unions are holding a rally outside of Luton Town Hall this evening against plans to convert all schools to academies

  5. Man denies Harlow hotel killing

    A Hertfordshire man has denied manslaughter over the death of William Wareham, 52, at the Park Inn Hotel in Harlow, Essex.

    Bradley Casey, 20, of Palmers Way in Cheshunt, appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court earlier where he entered a not guilty plea. He will face trial in October.

    Mr Wareham, from Harlow, was taken to hospital with serious injuries on 12 December last year, but died the following day.

  6. Sikh holy men run-up £230k in legal bills battling for control of Bucks temple

    Warring Sikh holy men, battling for control of three temples, including one in Bucks, have run up more than £230,000 in legal bills before their case has even reached court, a judge has revealed.

  7. Four charged with pickpocketing in St Albans

    Four people from London have been charged in connection with pickpocketing offences in St Albans.

    Hertfordshire Police say 11 shoppers have become victims of theft in the city centre over the past month. 

    The men are accused of taking cash cards, wallets and purses from handbags and jackets when their owners weren't paying full attention.

  9. Patients praise 'first class' ambulance service

    The East of England Ambulance Service says patients who completed a recent survey described the care they received as "brilliant", "excellent" and "first class".

    A total of 368 patients treated in January were sent the survey, with 106 completing it. The trust said 98% of respondents said they were either very satisfied, satisfied or fairly satisfied with the care received.

    Although the majority of the responses were positive, one patient said there had been an "unacceptable length of delay" waiting for an ambulance to arrive.

  10. M25 reopened, but will close again later

    The M25 anti-clockwise between J21a and J20 has reopened after being shut for emergency bridge repairs, but the road will close again later tonight.

    Highways England say the carriageway will be closed from 22:00 to 05:00 tomorrow morning to complete the repairs on a viaduct which carries the motorway over a railway line, a river and farmland near Kings Langley.

    A diversion will be in place via the A405 and A41 later, or for drivers moving on to the M1 northbound via the A405 and A414.

    Watford Ladies have announced six new signings, including former Oxford United winger Katie Stanley.

  12. Herts police officer dismissed from force

    A Hertfordshire police officer has been dismissed from the force at a misconduct hearing today, after he had a series of sexual relationships with vulnerable women.

    Simon Salway, 39, who was a PC at Hatfield police station, is serving a three year jail sentence for six offences of misconduct in a public office.

    The married officer from Stevenage had sex with a series of women he met during his work, one of whom had his child.

  13. Victims stabbed during knife-attack robbery

    Two men were attacked by four men with a knife as they sat in a car in Buckingham. 

    The offenders stabbed the 19 and 20-year-olds before taking cash and car keys from them. 

    Both men were treated for wounds to their hands and forehead after the attack on Monday at 22:00 on Gawcott Road.

  14. Travel: M25 bridge repairs complete

    Repairs have been completed to a bridge near J20 of the M25, and closures to the anti-clockwise carriageway between J21a and J20 are in the process of being lifted.

  15. Brussels attacks: Flag at half-mast out Hertsmere Civic Offices

    Those who lost their lives in yesterday's terror attack are being honoured across Europe, with many famous buildings lit up in Belgium's colours including the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Rome's Trevi Fountain and the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin.

    Nearer to home, Hertsmere Borough Council is currently flying the Union Flag at half mast in memory of the victims of the Brussels attacks.

  17. Henry Huggins death: Inquest due today

    The inquest is due today into the death of a Luton man who died two years after being violently attacked

    Henry Huggins, 48, was left in a coma after the assault in Farley Hill in August 2013.

    Stuart Docherty, 40, of Townsley, Luton, stamped on Mr Huggins' head during the attack and was jailed for 12 years for grievous bodily harm with intent. But Mr Huggins' sister, Mary believes her brother's attacker should now be charged with murder. The Crown Prosecution Service is reviewing the case.
