  2. Watch: Swan leads train of cygnets

    We've seen some stories recently of ducklings stuck in drains, badgers stuck down holes and squirrels trapped in bird feeders - so it's good to show some happy animals.

    This swan and its cygnets were filmed at Wolseley in Staffordshire by the county's wildlife trust, outside their headquarters.

  3. Snack cocaine: Police dog finds drugs in cheddars tube

    Cooper the police dog has earned some extra treats tonight - after sniffing out cocaine worth £2,500 hidden inside a tube of Mini Cheddars.

    Staffordshire Police says the discovery was made during a search of a kitchen at a house in Longton.

  4. Children's toy starts house fire

    A children's electrical toy has started a house fire in Crewe, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service has said.

    They were called out just before 15:00 and found the kitchen at the property in Smith Grove was alight - a hoverboard plugged in to a charger has been blamed.

    It took around an hour to extinguish and a 72-year-old woman was treated by paramedics at the scene as a precautionary measure.

  5. Boy arrested near school with Samurai sword

    A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in Telford for carrying a Samurai sword in the street.

    West Mercia Police say they were called to Brunel Road in Malinslee at around 15:00 and children at a nearby school were kept inside while they dealt with the incident.

    The sword is believed to have been in a sheath. The boy was arrested as a precaution and nobody was hurt, the force said.
