  1. Cricket: Birmingham Phoenix pick team for The Hundred

    The new cricket competition, The Hundred, saw all the teams pick their players at the weekend in the competition's first ever draft.

    Birmingham Phoenix, who already had Moeen Ali, Pat Brown and Chris Woakes inked into their squad, also added Lancashire and England batsman Liam Livingstone (pictured) for £125,000.

    Meanwhile, other Warwickshire and Worcestershire players, including Ed Pollock, Ed Barnard and Ross Whiteley, were snapped up by teams in other parts of the country.

  2. More arrests over Black Country burglaries

    Four more people have been arrested in connection with a of string of burglaries which targeted older people in the Black Country.

    Twenty-nine burglaries took place in nine days across the region, police said.

    Masked men stole jewellery from two women, aged 75 and 87, in Wolverhampton and Walsall. Other addresses were also targeted, police said.

    Two men aged 22 and another aged 19 were arrested in the Wrexham area of Wales on Saturday along with another aged 30 on Sunday, said West Midlands Police.

    Four men who were arrested on 17 October have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

  3. Three arrested after shots fired

    Two people have been arrested after shots were fired in Birmingham on Sunday.

    A 17-year-old who went to hospital shortly after the incident remains in a stable condition, police say, although it is not known if he had gun shot injuries.

    Archibald Road at the junction of Finch Road in Lozells remains closed after the incident which happened during the early hours.

    A 27-year-old man and two 17-year-olds have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon, said West Midlands Police.

  5. Woman questioned over man's murder

    Officers are questioning a woman arrested on suspicion of murdering a 60-year-old man who was found dead at a house.

    Officers were called to Merlin Walk in Castle Vale, Birmingham, in the early hours of Sunday.

    West Midlands Police said a post-mortem examination would take place in due course and a cordon was in place while inquiries continued.

    A 52-year-old woman was arrested.
