  1. Cirencester Abbey made of Lego

    Today marks the start of a fundraising project to raise Cirencester Abbey from its ruins and build it brick by brick in Lego.

    As part of the historic building's 900th anniversary celebrations, members of the public will be able to buy bricks to help with the construction.

    The campaign runs until October.

  2. The UK shopkeeper who became a hero in Poland

    Amo Singh - a shopkeeper from Stroud - was badly beaten after defending a Polish teenager from a gang attack. 

    The Polish community have responded by donating money online, and even called for Amo to be officially invited to Poland as a VIP.

  3. Moon halo captured over Bristol

    Moon halo

    Did you see the moon halo last night? Keen photographer Leighton James captured these images over his house in Bishopston, Bristol. 

    A moon halo is an optical phenomenon showing a ring with a radius of approximately 22° around the moon caused by the moonlight being refracted in millions of ice crystals.

    Leighton said: "It’s something I have never seen before and thought it looked quite amazing".

  4. Lemurs get their first check-up from zoo vets

    Three young lemurs from The Wild Place Project in Bristol have had their first health check.

    Cabbage, Sprout and Chicory were brought to see vets at Bristol Zoo.

    They were placed under anaesthetic so Michelle Barrows could carry out vital X-Rays, blood tests and dental checks.

    The checks are part of the zoo’s preventative medicine programme so that they can keep an eye on how animals are faring and treat any health issues early on.

    • BBC Radio Bristol  - There's a petition to reduce the speed limit around Oldmixon in Weston-super-Mare after a 14-year old boy was injured in a hit and run collision
    • BBC Radio Gloucestershire  - A pavilion in Gloucestershire has been reopened after it was almost completely destroyed in an arson attack last year 
    • BBC Somerset  - A local government expert is warning whoever is elected as the West of England metro-mayor next month not to ignore rural areas
    • BBC Wiltshire  - Almost a third of people working in adult social care across Wiltshire and the South West left their job in the last year.
