  5. Are you due to fly?

There are delays and cancellations to three-quarters of flights to and from Bristol Airport because of the wintry conditions.

The airport says the runway is open but the majority of flights are cancelled.

Passengers are advised to check the status of their flight before travelling.

It's a similar picture at Exeter Airport where they runway reopened at 10:00. Knock-on delays and cancellations are likely.

  7. Ex-snow-minate!

You have probably had enough of snowman photos by now but we couldn't resist sharing this dalektible creation in Long Ashton.

We doubt it will be around for long though - soon be exterminated by warmer temperatures.

  8. Travel round-up: Closures still in place

There are still plenty of road closures in the west - too many to list but here are a few of the main ones:

    • The A303 at between the A358 Southfields Roundabout near Ilminster and the A30
    • The A342 at Ludgershall
    • The A342 Dunkirk Hill at Devizes
    • The 345 at Old Sarum
    • The A346 at Chiseldon
    • The A360 at West Lavington

    • The A44 at Bourton-on-the-Hill
    • The A46 at Tomarton
    • The A 4361 Beckhampton Road at Avebury

There are many other roads still closed and others are still affected by snow and ice so police advice for much of the region remains, do not travel unless necessary.

  9. Hospitals appeal for 4x4 help

Somerset's hospitals have issued the following message:

Taunton’s Musgrove Park Hospital, Yeovil District Hospital and community hospitals in Somerset are appealing to drivers of 4x4 vehicles in Somerset to volunteer to transport essential hospital and community health staff to and from their place of work today.

The appeal comes as the Somerset health and social care system continues to remain in major incident status due to the severe weather conditions and treacherous state of the roads.

Although the weather warnings have fallen to a Yellow Level 3, snow and icy roads are still presenting serious transport difficulties for medical staff needing to get to and from district and community hospitals.

If drivers of 4x4 vehicles are able to volunteer to transport a medical staff member today or tomorrow (Sunday) would they please contact the on-call hospital manager at:

Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton. Tel: 01823 333444Yeovil District HospitalTel: 01935 475122
