Hundreds of children across Gloucestershire are being placed in child protection plans at “unprecedented levels”.
The rise has triggered an increase in pressure on dealing with complex and high risk assessments and visiting progress plans for children.
In a meeting at Gloucestershire County Council the rise of children being subject to special protection schemes was laid out, revealing 670 under 18-year-olds received allocations.
The figure is an increase of 35% as of 7 March from the same time period last year.

Schools in Somerset will have more money to spend per pupil this year, but some will see their overall funding allocation fall.
Somerset County Council has published a list of the funding which every state school in the county will receive for 2018/19, and how much that works out for each individual pupil.
The county's share of the national education budget has risen by more than 3%. This is in light of more than 400 additional new pupils joining the school system in the past 12 months, and changes in the way that funding is calculated.
But while most schools will see some increase in funding, some have actually seen their allocation reduced. The council has welcomed the rise in funding, but said that its schools remain historically "low funded" and that it will continue to lobby for further increases.

A school with just seven pupils and one teacher is to close.
A meeting of Bath and North East Somerset Council was told, while it was a sad day, Camerton Church School was "no longer viable, either financially or educationally".
The children from different year groups were being taught in a single class but are now at their new school in nearby Shoscombe.
The council's cabinet was told "the simple fact is the school has not been able to get enough pupils in" and that there isn't any new housing planned for the area.
