Meet the female lifeboat crew members

Watch: The women saving lives at sea

Four female volunteers have joined the RNLI lifeboat crew in Portishead.

Last month, the My Lady Anne vessel launched for the first time with Senior Helm Ian Lazenby taking three women crew members with him for the first time.

There isn’t a divide between the crew, and both men and women are treated equally so it didn’t occur to me that we launched as three women crew with George at the Helm until we returned to the Station. It was great to be part of the history and a huge privilege to be one of the three women on board.

Worzel and Aunt Sally figures
Clevedon Salerooms

Life-size figures of classic television favourites Worzel Gummidge and Aunt Sally, discovered in a cellar in Bristol, will be going under the hammer soon.

Worzel Gummidge was a popular Sunday tea-time television series which originally aired between 1979 and 1981.

It was based on Barbara Euphan Todd’s books for children.

The figures, based on the characters played by Jon Pertwee and Una Stubbs, were among items found in a Bristol house clearance.

They appear to have been made for promotional purposes, but the family tasked with clearing the property of an elderly relative have no idea how they ended up there.

The figures will be auctioned at Clevedon Salerooms in Somerset on 6 September.
