  10. Potential new busway routes revealed

    Alex Pope

    BBC Local Live

Routes that a proposed new busway link between Cambourne and Cambridge could take have been revealed.

The proposals by the Greater Cambridge Partnership include two on-road routes and one off-road route south of the A428 - which they say will avoid the West Fields.

    Plans for new bus routes

Amanda Fuller, from the Coton Busway Action Group, said "the off-road busway is hugely unpopular and is going to cost hundreds of millions of pounds - it is a big white elephant".

Rachel Stopard, the chief executive of the Greater Cambridge Partnership, said it was "listening" to worries and had "already removed one of the options that had most concerns".

The proposals will be considered by the partnership on 13 and 20 September.

If the plans are supported, a public consultation will take place between November and December.

  13. Football deadline deals

    BBC Sport

Cambridge United completed their final summer signing just minutes ahead of Thursday's 23:00 transfer deadline.

    George Taft

Defender George Taft has rejoined on loan from Mansfield until January.

The 24-year-old had a previous three-month loan spell with the U's in 2015, where he scored once in 13 appearances.

Peterborough United's only piece of deadline day business involved a contract extension. Midfielder Marcus Maddison signed a new three-year deal and will stay with the Posh until 2020.

This weekend the U's are hosting Colchester in League Two, while Posh are heading to Doncaster in League One.
