  1. Buses diverted away from flooded road

    Flooding is affecting the A428 Coventry Road in Long Lawford, Warwickshire.

    Some buses are unable to serve nearby Church Lawford.

    The road is affected between Lawford Heath Lane and School Street.

    The flooding is at the railway bridge.

  3. Five arrests after raids

    Five people were arrested after raids at houses in Atherstone and Hartshill this morning.

    Warwickshire Police said they recovered what they believed to be Class A drugs from a property on Stratford Avenue, Atherstone, along with a vehicle thought to be stolen.

    Officers also targeted a house on Atherstone Road in Hartshill.


    The force said two 18-year-olds and a 17-year-old were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences and theft of a motor vehicle.

    A man from Atherstone was arrested on suspicion of theft, and a woman, also from the area, was arrested on suspicion of theft and being concerned in supplying a controlled drug.

  4. Firefighters to get new training facility

    A replica house will be built at Stratford-upon-Avon's fire station to allow firefighters to hone their skills.

    Warwickshire county councillors approved the plans for the two-storey structure, next to the Masons Road base, after hearing firefighters currently have to travel elsewhere to train.

    Councillors on the authority's regulatory committee were told the building wouldn't be visible from the main road.

  6. Fidel Glasgow stab death: Fresh CCTV images released

    New CCTV images have been released by police investigating the killing of Fidel Glasgow.

    The 21-year-old died after being stabbed near Club M nightclub in Coventry on 1 September 2018.

    West Midlands Police said it was trying to identify two men pictured below.

    Ten men have been arrested in connection with the death and released on bail.

    Mr Glasgow was the grandson of The Specials singer Neville Staple.

  7. University workers vote for eight day strike

    Lecturers and support staff at three universities in the West Midlands are to strike for eight days in disputes over pay and pensions.

    Members of the University and College Union (UCU) will walk out between 25 November and 4 December, following votes in favour of industrial action.

    Aston University, the University of Birmingham and the University of Warwick are among 60 across the UK which will be affected by the strikes, UCU says.

    The group Universities UK said it hoped the action would not go ahead, but said plans were in place to ensure disruption to students is minimal.

    As well as the eight days of strike action, union members will begin other forms of industrial action when they return to work, such as working strictly to contract, not covering for absent colleagues and refusing to reschedule lectures lost to strike action.

  8. M6 lorry fire: Motorway reopens after resurfacing work

    Part of the M6 southbound has reopened after being resurfaced overnight following a lorry fire, Highways England has tweeted.

    The fire broke out early on Tuesday and closed the southbound carriageway between junction two for the M69 and junction one at Rugby.

    Specialist teams were sent to the scene to recover the lorry trailer that had been carrying a "hazardous substance".

    Highways England closed the southbound side from J4 to J2 just before 21:00 to carry out the works and said the total closure was removed just after 05:00.

  9. Nick Timothy loses election bid

    A former Downing Street chief who was an adviser to Theresa May has failed in his bid to run as a Tory candidate in the general election.

    Nick Timothy was beaten by Saqib Bhatti, who was selected to run for the Meriden seat in Solihull.

    Mr Timothy resigned as Mrs May's joint chief of staff after the general election in 2017.

    Mr Bhatti will contest the seat to replace MP Dame Caroline Spelman.
