  6. Ulverston and North Lonsdale show takes place today

    Neil Smith

    South Cumbria journalist, BBC Cumbria

One of the biggest rural events in Cumbria is taking place today.

The Ulverston and North Lonsdale Show is being held just weeks after it was announced that the Lake District has been given World Heritage Site Status.

Following this, the government said Cumbria's farmers must make it a priority to protect the environment.

While farmers agree it's important, many say it's still unclear what support there'll be for food production post-Brexit.

    Neil Smith

    South Cumbria journalist, BBC Cumbria

Concerns are again being raised about the future of Barrow's major entertainments venue - The Forum.

At the moment, the borough council contributes almost £600,000 a year to the running costs.

But the authority must make major savings and a review of the services offered by The Forum could take place.

Council officials are aware that even if the authority's contribution can be reduced the venue will still require a significant amount of help.
