Crews are attempting to tackle the blaze south of Princetown with beaters over difficult terrain to prevent escalation and further environmental damage.
The fire started at about 18:15 on Monday and crews remain on the scene.

Man's wallet stolen from pocket in Plymouth robbery

A man was left with minor injuries after his wallet was stolen in a robbery in Plymouth, police have said.
It happened between 12:50 and 13:00 on Thursday 18 April in the rear service lane of Alexandra Place, at the junction of Alexandra Road and Wolseley Road, by Jon Jon Auto Repairs.
Officers said two men "forcibly removed" the wallet from the 45-year-old's pocket.
One of the suspects is described as black, aged between 20 and 35 and wearing dark clothing.
The other suspect is described as a white, of similar age and wearing a distinctive red top.
Both men ran off with the wallet in the direction of North Prospect.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police via 101.
Man assaulted by group of men in Perranporth

A man was left with multiple injuries after being assaulted by a group of men in Perranporth, police have said.
Officers were called to Beach Road at about 20:40 on Monday.
The group left the scene before police arrived and the victim - who is in his 20s - was taken to hospital.

A motorcyclist has died after a crash in Exeter, police have said.
It happened at about 21:50 on Saturday on Alphin Brook Road.
Officers said a car was also involved in the crash and a full investigation of the scene was carried out.
The cause of the incident is not yet known, Devon and Cornwall Police added.

The college won a £10,000 grant from the Foyle Foundation to spend on new books.
The principal of the college, Emmie Seaward-Adams, says despite the popularity of other forms of media, they're keen to encourage the pupils to "rediscover the magic of books".

Man, 19, arrested for attempted murder following stabbings

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two men were stabbed in St Austell.
The 19-year-old man from Newquay, who remains in police custody was also arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery.
Devon and Cornwall Police said a young man, who was not injured, was threatened and had property stolen from him at around 23:15 on Sunday on Holmbush Arch Road.
The force said two men in their 20s were stabbed a "short while later".
One of the injured men is in hospital with "potentially life-threatening injuries" while the second has since been discharged from hospital, police said.
A knife and a motorbike, believed to be linked to the incident, were seized nearby.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to come forward.

Tourist attacked and bitten by dog in Cornwall

A female tourist was attacked and bitten by a dog in Cornwall which then has to be Tasered by police.
The dog attacked the woman, who was in her 40s, in Island Crescent, Newquay at about 19:14 BST on Saturday.
She was taken to Royal Cornwall Hospital in Treliske and treated for "serious" injuries to her leg but has since been released, police said.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "On attendance the dog was contained by officers, a short time later it broke free from its lead and ran towards the victim.
"A Taser was discharged by officers in order to safely contain the incident.
"The dog was uninjured and was taken to the vets to be checked over before being seized and taken into kennels."
A PCSO was also assaulted and sustained minor injuries.
A 27-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were both arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control, affray, assault and assaulting emergency workers.
The woman was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug and both have since been released under investigation.
