    Portsmouth manager Paul Cook  believes a lower than average number of points will seal the third automatic promotion place in League Two this season .

    Pompey are third with 10 games to play, and have a four-point lead over fourth-placed Stevenage.

    "When you are where we are, you hold all the cards," Cook told  BBC Radio Solent.  "But, it's a very difficult league, it's unforgiving."

    Portsmouth host play-off chasing Grimsby at Fratton Park on Tuesday.

  6. BreakingThree arrested over chest stab death

    Two men and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of murdering a man who died after being stabbed in the chest.

    Shkelzen Dauti, 21, died in hospital after he was found in the road in Gilpin Close, Southampton, in the early hours of Saturday.

    Police said a 30-year-old woman, a 27-year-old man and a man aged 28 were arrested on Monday.

    The force said Mr Dauti, better known as Genny, was originally from Albania.  

  7. Poole to honour embattled rivals' fixture

    Speedway's Poole Pirates have said they will honour a fixture with rivals Coventry Bees, despite the club being forced to withdraw from the SGB Premiership.

    The Midlands side put their licence on hold following damage to their Brandon base - a move described by Poole as "a major blow to speedway fans".

  8. BreakingWoman charged with Aldershot murder

    A woman has been charged with murdering a 75-year-old man who was found unconscious at an address in Aldershot on Friday.

    Man Limbu, of Grove Road, was later pronounced dead at the flat in Victoria Road.

    Sun Maya Tamang, 50, of Victoria Road, has also been charged with attempted murder, aggravated burglary and false imprisonment, in relation to a separate incident at a property in Grove Road the same day.

    She is due to appear before Basingstoke magistrates tomorrow.

  9. Application submitted for 3,200 homes

    An application for outline planning permission has been submitted for 3,200 homes at Manydown, Basingstoke Borough Council has said.

    The land, jointly acquired by the authority and the county council, is earmarked for a new community, including two new primary schools, a secondary school and a 250-acre country park.  

  10. Man arrested after police incident

    A domestic incident in Winchester which forced police to close a road has ended.

    Hampshire Constabulary said an 18-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of assault following the operation in City Road.

    The road was reopened shortly after 15:00.

  11. Tory councils warn on school funding

    More than a dozen Conservative councils, including in Dorset and Hampshire,  have written to Prime Minister Theresa May to warn of their "alarm" at inadequate school funding in England .

    They are part of a cross-party group of councils with low levels of funding. 

    They had hoped to benefit from changes to the funding formula but now say the funding gap will remain unresolved. 

    The Department for Education (DfE), which is carrying out a consultation on the changes, says schools are already receiving record levels of funding.
