  4. Morebus pioneers horseshoe 'social' seating on Bournemouth buses

A bus company is to trial horse-shoe shaped seating at the back of buses in a bid encourage passengers to be more sociable.

The new seats on two Morebus routes in Bournemouth accommodate eight people in a "lounge-type environment".

The company said the layout could also discourage passengers from putting bags on spare seas to deter people from sitting beside them. It is running a public consultation before introducing it on new buses.

Managing director Andrew Wickham said said the U-shaped layout echoed bus designs used in Paris in the 1930s and hoped it would encourage friends and families to travel together.
