  2. Royal Navy escorts Russian task force

    A British warship has been sent to escort a Russian naval task force of four ships through the English Channel.

    HMS Westminster was sent out on Friday to keep watch on two Russian warships and two supporting vessels as they passed close to UK territorial waters in stormy conditions.

    The Portsmouth-based Type 23 frigate remained at sea over the weekend to meet up with the Russian vessels and keep track of their movements.

    The Royal Navy warship is expected to remain with the Russian ships as they head north.

  3. University looks for donors for blood study

    Reading University is looking for people to donate blood to help with research into cardiac health.

    Scientists will look at how different fats and hormones in blood can effect someone's risk of heart attacks or strokes.

    The study is being funded by the British Heart Foundation. Heart disease remains one of the biggest causes of death in the UK - causing around 200,000 deaths each year.

  5. New pool to open in Reading

    A new temporary swimming pool will open in Reading next Monday.

    The 25-metre, five-lane pool at Rivermead Leisure Centre will be open while a permanent replacement for the town's Central Pool is built.

    Greenwich Leisure Ltd – who manage the leisure centre on behalf of the Reading Council – will be operating the demountable pool.

    Central Pool will close to the public from the end of January.

  6. Water pipe works begin in Maidenhead

    Roadworks in Maidenhead are set to delay drivers for the next five months.

    The temporary traffic lights on Ray Park Road are the start of South East Water works on a new pipeline that will go on until May.

  8. Attenborough's "Sea dragon" to go on display

    If you watched Attenborough and the Sea dragon on BBC One last night, you'll have a chance to see the 200-million-year-old fossil itself when it goes on display in Charmouth later this month.

    The bones of an ichthyosaur, a giant sea dragon was discovered on the Jurassic coast near Lyme Regis.

  9. Thames body 'thought to be missing man'

    The body of a man found in the River Thames on Sunday is believed to be that of a missing man, Thames Valley Police has said.

    Although formal identification has not yet taken place, officers believe that the body is that of Roy Robins, 81, who was missing from Wokingham.

    The death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious.

    His next of kin has been informed and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

  11. Family 'shocked' by mobile phone removal

    The family of a Blandford woman who was murdered by her ex-lover have given their response to the revelation that she had her mobile phone seized by police days earlier.

    An Independent Office for Police Conduct report found Katrina O'Hara's phone was taken eight days before she was stabbed to death by Stuart Thomas at her Dorset salon in January 2016.

    However, she he was not given any other means of communication.

  13. Rail lines reopen after woman hit by train

    All lines have now reopened between Reading and London Paddington after a woman was hit by a train.

    National Rail said some trains may still be cancelled and warned passengers of delays of up to 90 minutes.

    British Transport Police and Thames Valley Police attended Slough train station at 08:50 GMT, where they discovered the body of a woman.

    It caused significant disruption to rail services.

  15. Donkey freed in drain drama

    Firefighters have freed a donkey whose back legs had got stuck in a drain at the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary this morning.

    It's thought Charnford Jack got trapped after the drain cover gave way following heavy rain.

    With the help of sanctuary staff, firefighters rescued the animal.

    It was said to be uninjured and recovering from its ordeal – with a plentiful supply of carrots and ginger nut biscuits.
