  1. Revamp for children's centre

    A children's centre in Banbury is being extended after receiving £440,000 in funding.

    The Sunshine Centre runs a range of services for families from stay and play activities to antenatal classes, and support for survivors of domestic abuse.

    Works to prepare the site are under way ahead of builders starting in early June.

    The work is expected to last 24 weeks.

  2. Hospital security staff strike to go ahead

    Security staff at Southampton General Hospital's A&E department will go ahead with strikes in a dispute over safety.

    Union Unite said following talks with conciliation service Acas members would strike for 24 hours on 5 April.

    Further strike days are expected on 19 April and 24 May. There will also be a 48-hour stoppage starting on 3 May and a further 72-hour strike on 7 June.

  4. Man held in fatal Oxford stabbing inquiry

    A man has been arrested on suspicion of helping an offender in connection with a fatal stabbing in Oxford.

    Luciano Dos Santos, 22, from Southampton, was hit by a car and repeatedly stabbed in Southfield Road on 27 February.

    Michael Yemane, 20, Welid Solomon, 25, from Oxford, Sasan Khalid, 19, of no fixed address, and Safeen Karimi, 27, from Thame, have been charged with murder.

    They are in police custody, along with the 42-year-old man from Oxford arrested on suspicion of helping an offender.

  5. Broken sewer pipe responsible for sewage leak

    A broken sewer pipe has been identified as the cause of a sewage leak in Long Hanborough, Oxfordshire.

    A Thames Water spokesman said: "We’re sorry for any disruption caused by a broken sewer.

    "We have a team on site clearing it and traffic lights are in place to allow this work to be carried out safely."
