  2. Police take over custody services from private firm

    Thames Valley Police has brought its custodial services back in-house from today.

    Detention officers for the force had previously been employed by a private company.

    The change was originally announced in November and will not involve significant change for officers or staff, the force said.

  3. Woman cut free from overturned car

    A woman had to be cut free from a car which had overturned at a zebra crossing in Poole.

    Crews were called to Canford Cliffs Road shortly before noon on Sunday.

    The woman was left in the care of the ambulance service.

  5. House wrecked by blaze

    Two people and five dogs have escaped from a fire at a house near Fordingbridge.

    Crews were called to Birchwood Drive in Alderholt, Dorset, at 03:15, when they found the property well alight.

    The occupants are being helped by the Red Cross emergency response team.

  6. Exhibition marks 75 years since Valentine tanks sank

    Submerged tank

    An exhibition has been organised to mark the 75th anniversary of "floating" tanks sinking during D-Day training.

    It is believed seven Valentine tanks sank in Studland Bay off the Dorset coast during Exercise Smash in April 1944, killing six men.

    Isle of Purbeck Sub-Aqua Club's (IPSAC) Valentine 75 project has been mapping and recording the history of the tanks.

    The exhibition put on by the club and Bournemouth University aims to tell the story of the tragedy.

  7. Man arrested after town centre rape

    Slough town centre

    A man has been arrested on suspicion of rape after a woman was attacked in an alleyway in Slough.

    The assault happened at about 01:00 GMT on Saturday between Mackenzie Square and the Curve cultural centre in the town centre.

  8. Woman dies after music all-nighter

    Bournemouth O2 Academy

    A woman has died after suffering a cardiac arrest at an all-night music event in Bournemouth.

    The 18-year-old from the Thames Valley area was taken ill at the O2 Academy in Boscombe shortly before 04:30 on Sunday.

    She was taken to Royal Bournemouth Hospital but died later that morning.

    Dorset Police said her next of kin had been informed and the death was being treated as "unexplained".

    The night had been hosted by Bristol dance duo My Nu Leng.

  9. The male body positive Instagram influencer

    A man who "wasted years" trying to sculpt his body has become an Instagram influencer on body positivity.

    "I always used Instagram for inspiration on losing weight," said Stevie Blaine, 26, aka @bopo.boy.

    But after seeing his clothes size tumble from XXL to extra small, family and friends said he had "gone too far".

    His 15,000 followers include singer Sam Smith and actor Jameela Jamil who tagged him to her 1.6 million followers.

  11. Gyrocopter's round-the-world bid begins

    A man has started his attempt to become the first person to fly solo around the world in an open-cockpit gyrocopter.

    James Ketchell, 37, from Basingstoke, took off from Popham Airfield in Hampshire on Sunday.
