  7. Consultation on city bypass plans

    People in Hereford are to get a chance next month to comment on where a western bypass for the city should go.

    Herefordshire Council is putting forward seven possible routes for the road and says it should relieve congestion.

    The road will run from the A49 to the southern link road.

    A final route will then be chosen later in the year, with the authority saying there is a "real appetite" for the scheme.

  8. Defibrillator campaigners lose third child

    A couple from Redditch who lost two teenage children to sudden arrhythmic death syndrome (SADS) have lost a third child.

    Robert and Maggie Underwood have campaigned to get defibrillators in schools since their 16-year-old daughter Charlotte died suddenly in 2010.

    Three years later their 17-year-old son Craig died from the same condition.

    On the family's charity Facebook page, they've announced that their son Carrick passed away yesterday morning and that they believe his death was heart-related too.

  9. BreakingCommunity order and £10,000 fine for liver branding surgeon

    A surgeon who marked his initials on the livers of two transplant patients has been sentenced to a 12-month community order and fined £10,000.

    Simon Bramhall, 53, from Tarrington, Herefordshire, branded the organs while patients were undergoing transplants at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

    Bramhall resigned after a disciplinary hearing with University Hospitals Birmingham Foundation Trust in May 2014.

  10. Body found in river is identified

    Police have confirmed a body found in the River Severn is that of 72-year-old Leung Yap, also known as Mary Yap, who went missing from her home in Malvern in November.

    The discovery was made on Saturday at Ryall, near Upton upon Severn.

  12. Engineering firm rejects takeover bid

    Engineering firm GKN, which has bases in Birmingham, Telford, Redditch and Leek, has rejected a £7bn takeover bid.

    Melrose, a manufacturing turnaround firm, made the offer on 8 January and causing shares in GKN, which makes parts for Airbus and Boeing and employs 56,000 people around the world to jump by more than a quarter.
