Southern Rail and RMT hold talks

Talks are to be held in a bid to resolve a bitter row over staffing on trains which continues to disrupt services on some of the busiest routes into Kent.

The Rail, Maritime and Transport union said it will meet Southern Railway representatives next week under the chairmanship of the conciliation service Acas.

Trains continued to be disrupted today, with the company blaming high levels of staff sickness, although the union has accused Southern of cancelling services even when crew were available.
