    Claire Cottingham

    BBC Live reporter

There weren't any bluebirds over the White Cliffs of Dover today to celebrate Dame Vera Lynn`s 100th birthday.

    Vera Lynn turns 100

The plan was for a pair of Spitfires to do a fly-past, in addition to which 50ft high birds would have been serenaded by military re-enactors as the Forces' Sweetheart is honoured for her war time service.

But high winds, rain and fog have put paid to that - for now at least. Despite that, celebrations continue in Dover.
