    Severe accident: M1 West Yorkshire northbound

  2. Funny Bradford woman calls for more female comics

    A charity worker from West Yorkshire has secured a place in a national stand up comedy competition.

    So You Think You're Funny? aims to discover new unsigned talent from across the country.

    Past winners of the event have gone on to become famous comedians. They include names such as Lee Mack and Peter Kay.

    Vicky Brown is from the Women's Comedy Workshop in Bradford and says it's time women got the recognition they deserve:

  4. World's top riders arrive at international horse event at Bramham

    The worlds top horse riders are competing at the Bramham International Horse Trials near Wetherby today.


    The famous event combines dressage, cross country and show jumping at Bramham Park.

    The competition has become so popular an extra day of dressage has been added to fit all entrants in.

    Organisers say they're expecting 60,000 people to visit over the four days of the event.

  5. 'Problems for local residents': Concerns over expansion of Yorkshire Wildlife Park

    Some people living near the Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster have expressed concerns over it's expansion plans.

    Yesterday the park revealed plans to build more animal reserves, a 150-bed hotel, shops and restaurants on an additional 150-acres of land.

    There will be be a couple of public consultation events next week and outline planning permission is expected to be submitted later in the summer.

    These people, living on a housing estate across the road from the park, have mixed views on the proposals:

  6. Thursday's Yorkshire Weather

    Starting cloudy with outbreaks of rain which will become heavier and more persistent through the morning.


    Some brighter spells will break through later though as the rain clears to the north but heavy showers following. Becoming breezy through the day.

    Any remaining showers will clear through the evening, but further showers will start to push in from the west through the second half of the night.

  7. Listen: 'Every week children pick up needles' - Concerns over syringes in Leeds park

    Calls have been made for a clean-up of Armley Park in Leeds after multiple drug-dens were found near where children play.

    Needles and syringes have been spotted in the bushes, with residents concerned they're dangerous and infectious.

    Antony Newby runs Trailblazers Fitness in Armley Park.

  8. Yorkshire goes to the polls

    People across Yorkshire are preparing to cast their vote in the general election.


    Polls open at 07:00 at more than 40,000 polling stations across the country, with counting starting once voting ends at 22:00.

    A total of 650 Westminster MPs will be elected, with about 46.9 million people registered to vote.

    There are 8 Parliamentary constituencies in North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire is divided into 14 Parliamentary constituencies and 22 MPs are being elected in West Yorkshire.

    There'll be extra police patrols with armed officers in some areas.

    On the rails across Yorkshire so far today most services are on time.

    However the 06:46 from Doncaster to Southampton Central is cancelled and the 07:14 from Bradford Interchange to Manchester Victoria is posted as delayed - everything else seems to be running to time,
