  1. Fancy getting married in a library?

    BBC Radio Derby

Derby Museum and Art Gallery wants to expand into the neighbouring Central Library, when the library is moved to the council house.

The plans would see the Museum and Art Gallery hold corporate events there while the Silk Mill is being redeveloped. This would include events like weddings.

Tony Butler, the museum's executive director, said: "It [Central Library] is going to have public use, it is not going to be thrown to the private sector.

"It will also have a commercial use that will then help us cover the running costs of it...the profits also add to our resilience by helping us generate more earned income."

  2. Hospital introduces £50 penalty charges for 'dangerous' parking

    BBC Local Live

Penalty charges are being introduced for "dangerous" parking at Nottingham's hospitals from next month.

Getting a space at the QMC and City Hospitals is often tricky but, until now, motorists who parked in restricted areas had just been issued with warnings.

From 1 August, penalty charge notices of £50 will be issued by Carillion and First Parking - who manage parking at both sites - if drivers park on verges or use a disabled space without a valid blue badge.

The charges are reduced to £25 if paid within two weeks.

Nottingham University Hospital Trust has said it's designed to improve safety and access for those who stick to the rules.

The victim, in her 20s, was left "fighting for her life" after the assault in Victoria Park, Leicester, at about 23:40 BST on Monday.

She was dragged into bushes and found near recycling bins about an hour later, Leicestershire Police said.

The suspect was arrested on Tuesday night and detectives have renewed their appeal for information.
