  4. Desert trek for injured Lincolnshire Police officer

    A Lincolnshire police officer, who was seriously injured in a cycling accident, is training for a charity trek across the Sahara Desert.

    Spalding officer PC Sarah Draper broke her shoulder after falling from her bike in Derbyshire in 2011.

    She was flown to hospital by the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and has decided to raise money for the charity.

    PC Draper said: "Any one of us could require the help of the air ambulance at any time and, in a rural county like Lincolnshire, the helicopter could mean the difference between life and death."

    The five-day trek starts in September.

  5. Lincolnshire man finds meat in his McDonald's veggie wrap

    A man from Lincolnshire has found chicken nuggets in a McDonald's meal, which was meant to be meat-free.

    Twitter user Sam, who's 25 and from Lincoln, posted "not going to lie but finding chicken in my veggie wrap was quite surprising."

    Other twitter users in Liverpool, Birmingham, Kent, Yorkshire, Elgin, London and Bristol have also shared their experiences.

    The fast-food chain launched their spicy veggie wrap earlier this year.

    Its main ingredient is meant to be a red pesto vegetarian goujon, but customers have been given chicken nuggets instead.

    McDonald's says: " We never want to disappoint customers, and any inaccuracy is not good enough."

  6. 125 year celebrations for Lincoln's New Theatre Royal

    Final rehearsals are underway for a variety show to mark Lincoln's New Theatre Royal's 125th anniversary.

    To mark the occasion, 125 performers will be on stage tomorrow night.

    A number of big names, including Oscar winner Dame Judi Dench, have appeared on stage at the theatre over the years.

    The theatre's currently enjoying a revival after new managers took over in 2016.

  7. Brother of road crash victim describes him as a 'modest and much loved man.'

    A Lincolnshire woman who caused the death of a motorcylist has told a court that she's "devastated" by what happened.

    Donna Wilkinson, who's 41 and from Grasby near Caistor, has been given a suspended jail sentence after admitting causing death by careless driving last March.

    Lincoln Crown Court heard how Wilkinson had been resting her mobile phone on her knees and using earphones during a brief conversation with her son.

    As she approached a crossroads she paused the call to negotiate the junction. The 41 year old collided with a motorcyclist, 58 year old Paul White from Scotter, who died at the scene.

    His brother Nigel described him as "a modest and much loved man." He added that "he'd lost part of his world which couldn't be replaced."

  8. Lincolnshire MP prepares to meet frustrated constituents

    The Conservative MP for Grantham and Stamford, Nick Boles, is expected to defend his views on Brexit when he appears before fellow tories in his constituency tonight.

    Mr Boles has angered members of his association over his decision to help draw-up new legislation which would delay the UK's departure from the EU.

    Mr Boles believes a no-deal departure would be a disaster for farmers, businesses and families.

  9. Wildcat and white fox settle in at new Lincolnshire home

    A Lincolnshire animal rescue centre is caring for two exotic new visitors.

    Staff at the Ark Wildlife Park in Stickney, near Boston, offered to take the white fox and serval after they were confiscated by authorities in Belgium after being kept illegally.

    The serval, an African wildcat, is often nicknamed the "giraffe cat" because of its long legs.

    The fox was being passed off as a dog by its owners.

    Both animals are currently in the centre's quarantine area.

    Last week, staff also took in a silver fox who they've named Dexter.

  10. Holbeach teen racer appeals for new funding

    A 17-year-old Lincolnshire racing driver is appealing for vital funds to keep him on the race track.

    Teddy Wilson, from Holbeach, already races in the US Formula 4 Championship, but to continue to the next level he needs new funding.

    The season starts in April, leaving the teenager with little time to raise the £10,000 he needs.

    Wilson says: "I believe I have the pace and potential to challenge for the title."

  11. Jobs fair under way on the Lincolnshire coast

    Job seekers are attending a huge jobs fair on the Lincolnshire coast.

    East Lindsey District Council is organising the event, at the Dunes complex in Mablethorpe.

    The authority says training providers and employers are on hand to offer advice in an informal setting.

    If you're in Lincolnshire and looking for work or fancy a change of career, then a jobs fair is being held on the coast today.


    It's being held at the Dunes in Mablethorpe and starts at 10:30 this morning.

    Hundreds of vacancies are up for grabs, organisers say.

  13. Villagers buy own speed gun to crack down on law-breakers

    Residents of a Lincolnshire village have bought their own speed gun in the hope it'll make motorists slow down.


    Sedgebrook Parish Council has joined a scheme run by Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership which trains volunteers to use the devices.

    If anyone is recorded speeding three times, their information is passed on to the police.
