The family of a Southport man who went missing just days before his 20th birthday have made an appeal for help in finding him.

Adam Seaton
Merseyside Police

Adam Seaton is believed to have gone missing from his home on Melrose Avenue on 9 August and his car was found parked at the RSPB Marshside nature reserve.

Adam's family have described him as a "home bird" and a "great lad".

His mother and father, Karen and Andy, said it has been incredibly difficult for them.

Mr Seaton said: "Adam was a geography student at Edge Hill University and some of his proposed work was to do with those marshes.

"That to us is the biggest clue, or the biggest potential reason, why he might go there.

"What we don't know is, assuming Adam is the one who parked the car there, we really don't know where he has gone from there."

Mosque strongly denies 'jihadist' sermon claims

A mosque where the Manchester bomber worshipped has denied encouraging anyone "to go and fight in any military struggle".

A recording of prayers at Didsbury Mosque obtained by the BBC calls for support for "mujahideen" fighting abroad, say two Muslim scholars.

Mustafa Graf's sermon was delivered at the mosque six months before Abedi killed 22 people in the Manchester Arena bomb attack in May 2017.

Salman Abedi

The scholars say the imam's comments relate to "military jihad" but Mustafa Graf denies ever preaching radical Islam.

Trustees of Didsbury Mosque say his sermon was highlighting the plight of Syrians.

In a Facebook statement, they said:

We refute strongly any suggestion that there is a link or association between our preaching and the criminal actions of Salman Abedi, or his radicalisation.

The Friday sermon in question took place shortly after chemical weapons were used by the Syrian regime against innocent men, women and children of Aleppo.

The term Jihad was used in its wider meaning “to strive and struggle” and in this case aid to those being oppressed. There was no call for any military Jihad (Qital).

The Friday prayer was aimed at encouraging the worshippers at the centre to donate generously to such causes and to pray to God to help those victims of oppression.

A mosque spokesman said it was currently taking legal advice on the BBC report "to identify what action if any can be taken".

It has also launched an investigation into the sermon as part of its "regulatory management duties".

A BBC spokesperson said: “We stand by our journalism”.

Kate Cross: England bowler 'didn't know her purpose' during anxiety struggles

BBC Sport

Just over two years ago, England women's bowler Kate Cross looked to have the world at her feet.

She had broken record after record on her way to playing international cricket, becoming the first girl to be accepted into the Lancashire Academy at the age of 15 before becoming the first woman to play in the Central Lancashire League for Heywood in 2015.

The year before, she had become one of the first 18 women to be awarded professional contracts by the England and Wales Cricket Board.

But unbeknown to all who knew her, Cross was struggling with anxiety and depression.

In her first detailed interview on the subject, the 26-year-old tells BBC Sport how she broke down before an England training camp, how the pressure of having a sportsman for a dad affected her own career, and why she and team-mate Sarah Taylor ended up in a shouting match.

Gloucester fly-half Cipriani was fined on Thursday after pleading guilty to assault and resisting arrest following an incident in a Jersey nightclub.

Diamond, who was the 30-year-old's director of rugby for four years at Sale, says the episode should not spell an end to his England career.

"It would be too harsh," he told BBC Radio 5 live.
