Weather: Clear spells leading to a chilly night

It will be dry but rather cloudy this evening. 

Some clear spells are likely to develop, particularly in the east towards Warrington, resulting in another chilly night. 

This will lead to a patchy frost forming by dawn, especially in rural parts.

Shakespeare short films to be shown in Liverpool

Police release CCTV of Bromborough robbery suspects

Detectives investigating a robbery in Bromborough have released footage of three men they believe could assist officers with their investigation.

The incident happened at about 13:20 BST on Tuesday when a 77-year-old woman had a quantity of cash stolen from her at an ATM outside a HSBC branch on Bromborough Village Road. 

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police.

St Helens school to close for a day over proposed strike action

De La Salle School in St Helens will be closed next Thursday due to proposed strike action by members of the NASUWT trade union, the council has said.

However year 11 students should still attend to prepare for GCSE exams.

West Kirby Marine lake re-opens after tests show the water is safe

West Kirby Marine Lake has re-opened after being closed earlier this week after concerns were raised over bacteria in the water.

Results from three samples taken earlier this week by the Council's environmental health team show that the Marine Lake passes the mandatory bathing water quality standard and Wirral Council have declared it safe.  

Search for Cheshire winner of £187k Euromillions prize

Lottery players in Cheshire West and Chester are being urged to check their tickets after a Euromillions ticket was bought there that's now worth £187,000.

It was for the draw on 5 April, and matched the five main numbers and one lucky star number. 

The ticket holder has until the 2 October to claim the prize.

More giant advertising screens approved for Liverpool

Plans to install up 19 digital advertising screens across Liverpool have been approved.

Subject to the planning process, the screens will be installed on main roads throughout the city, including Scotland Road, Islington and Queens Drive.

A report claims the screens, which are similar to those on the M62, could generate £1m a year for the council.

Travel: Severe congestion on M56 eastbound in Cheshire

There is queuing traffic on the M56 eastbound between J14 A5117 (Hapsford) and J12 A557 (Runcorn) because of an accident involving four vehicles.

Merseyside police say they have been made aware of threats made to Everton's Ramiro Funes Mori on social media.

It appears the Blues defender was sent the messages aimed at his family after his sending off in Wednesday's Mereyside derby.

At this stage no formal complaint has been made but officers are continuing to investigate.

Missing three-legged cat turns up 45 miles from home in Liverpool

A three-legged cat who was missing for five weeks has been found in Liverpool.

Brandy, an 11-year-old tabby whose leg was amputated when she was two, snuck out of her home in Macclesfield.

She was found with scratches on her body and underweight 45 miles away on an industrial estate in Liverpool and traced via a microchip.

Her owner Tracy Lake said she was "ecstatic" when she picked up a message from the RSPCA that she had been found.

The north west regional organised crime unit, Titan, has arrested two people from Merseyside on suspicion of cyber-crime offences overnight.

The 21 year olds were taken in for questioning after officers went to their homes in Southport.
