The rain will ease off this afternoon giving some drier and brighter spells into the evening but there will be a few heavy showers following on behind. 

These will clear away overnight so it will dry up again with some clear spells and the winds will ease off too.

Ministry says Nottingham Prison is improving

The Ministry of Justice says "improvements have been made" at Nottingham Prison after there were concerns about the increase in prisoners getting hold of 'legal highs'.

It says it acknowledges more needs to be done "to tackle violence and drugs" but says the new laws around the sale and possession of these substances "will see sentences of up to two years in prison" and should discourage people.

Montanier plans 'several' new signings

It looks like he's already working closely with the newly-appointed director of football, Pedro Pereira, so they're likely to both use their overseas contacts to bring new players in.

Labour members call on Corbyn to resign

More than 100 Labour activists and councillors from the East Midlands have now signed a letter calling for him to step down as party leader "with immediate effect".

Health worker resigns after sex offences allegations

We told you yesterday about the healthcare worker who was charged with 14 counts of sexual assaults and two of rape while working at the Millbrook Mental Health Unit, at King's Mill Hospital.

The hospital trust which runs the unit said the man, who was working as a healthcare assistant, had been suspended as soon as they became aware of the allegations and subsequently resigned.

Report highlights legal highs problem at prison

Serious concerns have been raised about the use of so-called legal highs by inmates at Nottingham Prison.

A report by the Independent Monitoring Board says some prisoners have needed hospital treatment due to the effects of psychoactive substances.

The board also says some prisoners use other inmates as "guinea pigs" to test the strength of the substances.

However, it said staff were becoming more aware and a pilot project had been launched to detect these substances.

Absconder arrested

Police have told Joseph Graham, from Nottingham, who absconded from Sudbury open prison in Derbyshire yesterday has been arrested.

He was detained in Derbyshire this afternoon.

Man on run after absconding from prison

Joseph David Graham, 35, was sentenced to "an indeterminate life term of imprisonment" for kidnap in 2008, and could be in the Nottingham or Merseyside area.

Overall, the city of Nottingham voted leave, but only just. In fact, there were only about 2,000 votes in it.

In Bulwell, 69% of people backed Brexit and in Aspley and Bilborough the figure was 66%.

But in other areas, it was a completely different story. The student population in Radford and The Park contributed to the strongest Remain vote of 68%, with Dunkirk & Lenton, Sherwood and Wollaton West close behind.

The margin of victory wasn't so big everywhere, though. In St. Anns, Leave won by just 80 votes.

Notts 71 runs behind on day four

It's a wet start to the scheduled fourth day of Nottinghamshire's County Championship match against Warwickshire at Edgbaston.

Man stabbed in Bulwell

A 51-year-old man has been taken to hospital after he was stabbed in Bulwell last night.

A spokeswoman for the police said they were called to Brook Close at about 18:00 and several roads in the area were closed while they carried out their enquiries.
