    There will be plenty of sunshine around to start Friday but cloud will gradually increase through the afternoon.

  5. Ulloa renews contract at Leicester City

    Leicester City striker Leonardo Ulloa has signed a new contract, keeping him with the Foxes until 2019.

    Earlier this year the 31-year-old Argentine vowed he'd never play for the club again, claiming he felt "betrayed" by former manager Claudio Ranieri.

    So far, he's made 96 appearances for Leicester and scored 20 goals in three seasons.

  6. Hit-and-run teen celebrates GCSE results

    A 16-year-old has picked up his GCSE results - despite being injured in a hit-and-run just weeks before his exams.

    AJ Allen was hit by a car driving at 40mph through Ilkeston's pedestrianised Market Place in April.

    He was rushed to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham, but after tests he was able to be discharged the next day with cuts and bruises.

    He suffered trauma and memory loss but was back at Ormiston Ilkeston Enterprise Academy within days to start revising for his exams.

    Today he achieved the results he needed to get into Bilborough College in Nottingham, including a grade 6 in Maths, and four Bs in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Finance.

    His mum, Lindsay, said: “The ambulance crew was saying he shouldn’t be here after being hit at that speed.

    “Today was a very emotional day for us all and we’re all so pleased that he got the results he wanted so he can go to college and follow his dream of being a personal trainer.”

  7. Man arrested after police chase crash death

    A man has been arrested after a man died following a police chase in Derby earlier this week.

    The crash happened on the A6 in Alvaston at 23:30 on Monday when a Vauxhall Corsa collided with the central reservation. It was being followed by a Derbyshire Police patrol car shortly before the crash.

    The passenger, Jacob Morton, 27, died in the crash, while the driver was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre with serious injuries. He remains in a stable condition.

    The arrested man, 25, has been detained on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

    The force has referred itself to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

  8. Wildlife trust lamb killed by dog off its lead

    A Hebridean ram lamb has been killed by a dog off its lead.

    Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust said it had taken 83 of its lambs to Teversal Pastures in the county earlier this week to graze when the attack happened.

    As a result the trust has closed the path, which isn't a public right of way, while the lambs graze to avoid another attack.

    Hebridean sheep were until recently considered rare but their numbers have increased.

  9. Leicester Tigers' player gets GCSEs

    Among GCSE students celebrating today is 16-year-old Leicester Tigers' Academy full-back Freddie Steward.

    The rugby player, who studies at Norwich School in Norfolk, collected seven A*s, one A, a grade 8 and a grade 7.

  10. Field fire destroys acres of crop

    Fire crews in Leicestershire have spent the afternoon tackling a blaze in a field in Anstey.

    A four acre field of corn on Cropston Road was alight and spread to hedgerows. It's estimated 90% of the crop was damaged.

    The fire service believes the cause of the fire to be "accidental ignition".

  11. Man 'spat in woman's face and made racist comments'

    Nottinghamshire Police want to speak to them after a man spat in a woman's face and made homophobic and racist comments.

    It happened on Gregory Boulevard in Nottingham at about 16:30 on 7 August.
