Appeal to Bulwell community following stabbing

Police have said the family of 17-year-old Lyrico Steede is "devastated" about his death.

The teenager, known to his friends as Rico, was stabbed while in the Bulwell area of Nottingham last week.

Nottinghamshire Police said they are "determined to catch those responsible" and have urged the community of Bulwell to help them get justice.

Hospital 'terribly sorry' after boy's death

A senior doctor at the Leicester Royal Infirmary has told an inquest that her department is "terribly, terribly sorry" after the death of a three-year-old boy with Down's syndrome.

Krishan Saujani died at the LRI in November 2015 from bronchial pneumonia.

He'd been diagnosed with dehydration and gastroenteritis on arrival at the hospital but was kept in the resuscitation area for about three hours before being moved on to the children’s assessment unit.

The events leading up to his death have already been investigated by the Crown Prosecution Service, which found there was no case to answer in terms of a criminal prosecution.

A coroner is now hearing the inquest into his death at Leicester's Town Hall.

A 17-year-old boy has died after being stabbed in Bulwell.

Lyrico Steede (pictured below) was taken to hospital after being attacked by a group of people in the area of Stock Well at about 19:30 on Tuesday, February 13.

Nottinghamshire Police said the attack happened on several streets including Lathkill Close, Lillington Road and Stock Well.

The force is appealing for anyone with personal or business CCTV to let them know.

They also want to hear from anyone who may have been driving through the area between 19:00 and 19:45 with a dashcam.

Woman charged with Hucknall killing

A 20-year-old woman has been charged with murder after a man was discovered with fatal injuries at a house in Hucknall.

Christopher Pearson was found with life-threatening injuries at the property on Strathmore Close on Sunday.

The 39-year-old was taken to hospital where he later died.

Demi Harris, of the same address, who was arrested at the scene, is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court tomorrow.

Nottinghamshire Police said the post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death has taken place, but they have not released details of Mr Pearson's injuries.

The 78-year-old victim had been shopping at Aldi in Littleover on 11 November last year when she noticed her purse was missing.

Later that day, money was taken from her bank account, police said.

The officer leading the investigation said he appreciated that the suspected theft "happened a few months ago" but the CCTV image had only just become available to release.

The £900m order is for Greater Anglia, who want to use the carriages on commuter routes into London Liverpool Street.

It is hoped that the trains will be ready to bring into service next year.

Concern over 'noisy' clay pigeon shoots

Residents in a village have complained that a clay pigeon shooting range is too loud.

Castle Shooting Club has been holding fortnightly shoots in Marehay, near Ripley, since moving there in November.

"Once they start shooting, I start tensing up waiting for the next bang to come," one resident said.

Others have also expressed concerns about the location of the shoots.

In response, the club has told the BBC that safety is paramount and it is looking at ways to reduce noise.

Buildings on ex-colliery site get listed status

It means the old lamp room, powder magazine, and locomotive shed will be protected following the closure of the old Discovery Museum.

Plans for a new visitor centre, and 144 new homes on the site will not be affected.

Malouf failed a head injury assessment during Tigers' defeat at Gloucester, while Barrow has not played a Premiership match since October.

"Nick [Malouf] isn't training," Tigers head coach Matt O'Connor said.

"He should pass his return-to-play protocol hopefully by the back end of the week.

"Dom [Barrow] is training and looking good so he's available for selection."
