Huge gully-clearing programme gets under way
A 12-month programme to clean every one of Telford's 33,000 gullies is under way.
To get all the work done, contractors are set to work day and night to clean an average of 128 gullies a day, recording how much silt they contain so that problem-drains can be monitored in the future.

The last time the work was carried out, it took two-and-a-half years to clean them all.
A think tank says Telford is "one of the most vulnerable places" in the UK if the country leaves the EU without a trade deal covering goods exports.
Figures from The Centre for Cities research group suggest 59% of goods exported by businesses in Telford went to EU countries in 2017.

Its head of policy and research Paul Swinney says while the town is at risk "if [the UK gets] a deal with the EU and it's a goods-only deal, Telford is probably more insulated perhaps than other places in the UK".
