  6. Roller hockey record bid gets under way

    An inline skates hockey team from Shropshire is attempting to break a world record with a 46-hour game.

    Newport Knights thought they'd set a record with a 33-hour game a few years ago, only to find they didn't have the correct paperwork to validate it.

    The club is doing it in memory of its founder Jamie Payne, with the money raised going to Birmingham Children's Hospital, where he received treatment as a child.

  7. Swan eggs smashed in attack on nest

    Swan eggs have been smashed in an attack on a nest at Whittington Castle in Shropshire.

    It's thought the same pair of birds return to the same nest every year.

  8. Watkins returns for 10th season with Tigers

    Telford Tigers have announced Tom Watkins will be returning for his 10th season as head coach.

    He will also continue as the club's general manager and said he has already started recruiting for the next campaign, in the newly-created National League.

  11. Huge gully-clearing programme gets under way

    A 12-month programme to clean every one of Telford's 33,000 gullies is under way.

    To get all the work done, contractors are set to work day and night to clean an average of 128 gullies a day, recording how much silt they contain so that problem-drains can be monitored in the future.

    The last time the work was carried out, it took two-and-a-half years to clean them all.

  12. Telford's Brexit 'vulnerability'

    A think tank says Telford is "one of the most vulnerable places" in the UK if the country leaves the EU without a trade deal covering goods exports.

    Figures from The Centre for Cities research group suggest 59% of goods exported by businesses in Telford went to EU countries in 2017.

    Its head of policy and research Paul Swinney says while the town is at risk "if [the UK gets] a deal with the EU and it's a goods-only deal, Telford is probably more insulated perhaps than other places in the UK".
