  7. 'Peaty lacking extra gear'

    Swimming

    Nick Hope

BBC Sport on the Gold Coast

Something doesn’t seem right with Adam Peaty.

Don’t get me wrong - he is still phenomenal and clear of his opponents, but 58.84 seconds is a long way off the personal best of 57.13 and he doesn’t seem to have the extra gear we’re so used to seeing in the second half of that 100m race.

His room-mate and close friend James Guy withdrew from the 200m butterfly tonight with dehydration and if he hasn’t been well, that could have impacted Peaty.

The Englishman has admitted his focus is on swimming quicker at the Commonwealth Games and it will be interesting to see how he now performs in the 50m event.

Team-mate James Wilby, who claimed silver, is on the rise though and there’s no-doubt that training day in day out alongside Peaty has had a huge impact on his recent improvement.

  9. 'I've ticked everything I wanted to do tonight'

    Men's 100m breaststroke final

Commonwealth champion Adam Peaty speaking to BBC Sport after the race: "It was all about the race, not the time. I'm now four years undefeated.

"I've ticked everything I wanted to do tonight. My team-mates have kept me on my toes. It's nowhere near my personal best, but it was all about the race."

James Wilby on his silver medal: "I'm happy with that. It was rough getting over the 200m yesterday and I just tried to keep along with Adam. Happy to get the one-two for England"

  10. 'Peaty never swims badly'

    Men's 100m breaststroke final

    Rebecca Adlington

Double Olympic gold-medal winning swimmer on BBC TV

    Adam Peaty

We won't see another Adam Peaty in the pool for a very long time. To be unbeaten and dominating the world scene is incredible.

He might not win loads of medals, but he is so far ahead of the field and I haven't seen that level of dominance in a long time.

Adam is driven, a professional and just never has a bad session. He never swims badly. To be 23 and at the top of his game is amazing.

  11. Gold Medal - Adam Peaty (England)

    Men's 100m breaststroke final

    Adam Peaty wins again!

It's a Games record time, too, of 58.84 seconds. Utterly dominant.

A woman's going to compete for England in the first ever Commonwealth Games paratriathlon tomorrow after being paralysed from the waist down six years ago.

Lizzie partway through the 20km cycle at the Chicago World Championships 2015

Lizzie Tench from Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, was fairly active before a spinal cord injury in 2012 - regularly cycling, running and swimming.

But the 44-year-old used her rehabilitation to reignite her goal of one day completing a triathlon.

On Saturday morning on the Gold Coast, the event will see her take on a 750m swim, 20km cycle and a 5km running stage, completed in a race chair.
