  1. Flooded roads after heavy rain

    Several roads have been flooded today in Cheshire after heavy rain through the morning.

    Part of the A51 Nantwich Road, Calverley, near Nantwich, has been shut by Cheshire East Council so water can be pumped away.

    While Gresty Lane in Shavington, near Crewe, is also closed due to flooding, Cheshire Police said.

  2. Trains cancelled as railway lines flooded

    Trains are now being cancelled between Crewe and Chester due to the railway lines being flooded.

    National Rail Enquiries tweeted disruption would now last until at least 14:00 and buses were replacing services "where available".

  4. Flooded railway lines delay trains

    Train passengers are facing delays between Crewe and Chester this morning due to flooded railway lines.

    Disruption's expected until at least 11:00, National Rail Enquiries tweeted, and added services could be delayed by up to 25 minutes.

  5. Pantomime postponed as venue unfinished

    A town's pantomime has been delayed by more than a month after the reopening of a Grade II listed entertainment venue was put back.

    The closed Tamworth Assembly Rooms

    Tamworth Assembly Rooms closed in February 2016 so the building could be regenerated and it was due to reopen at the end of the month.

    But the borough council says extra works are needed to safely finish off the work and it can't reopen until the new year.

    As a result, most of the scheduled shows have been put back to new dates, including this year’s performance of Aladdin which the council says makes up most of the ticket sales.

    Instead of over 10 days from 14 December, the show's now due to take place over eight days from 18 January, with the council offering the new dates or a full refund.

  7. Long motorway delays after multi-vehicle crash

    There are delays of at least an hour on the M6 this evening following a multi-vehicle crash.

    It happened on the northbound carriageway between junction 12 for Cannock and 13 for Stafford. It's believed a lorry, van and two cars are involved.

    Traffic was temporarily held on the route. Emergency services are at the scene and one lane has been reopened.

    Around 50 litres of oil have been spilled.

  11. Driver witness appeal after serious sex attack

    Police are trying to trace the driver of a car who may have witnessed a serious sexual assault.

    A woman in her 30s was attacked last night in Hanley Park, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire Police said.

    The driver officers wish to contact is a potential witness and not a suspect, the force stresses. Police said he was in a silver Peugeot hatchback at the junction of Avenue Road and Stoke Road.

    Officers are also checking CCTV footage and appealing for anyone with dashcam video of the area at about 18:15 to contact them.
