  2. Port workers in mammoth discovery

    A mammoth tooth

    Contractors working at the Port of Dover have unearthed a fossilised mammoth tooth.

    It was part of the work at the Dover Western Docks Revival and was being overseen by Archaeology South-East (ASE).

    It's not clear how old the tooth is, but the last mammoths are believed to have walked in Britain over 14,000 years ago.

  3. Racing driver recovers from 130mph smash at Brands Hatch

    A racing driver is recovering after his car span out of control and hit the pit wall at Brands Hatch at 130mph.

    Rod Birley, 62, from West Kingsdown in Kent, suffered concussion, bruised ribs and a bruised spleen in the high-speed crash during a race on Sunday.

  4. Kent GB para-snowboarder has £10,000 of kit stolen

    A Paralympic snowboarding hopeful has had all his specialist equipment stolen, just days before he's due to participate in a World Cup event.

  5. Police appeal after burglary

    Police investigating a burglary at a house in Brighton want to speak to this man.

    It happened in Heath Hill Avenue, Bevendean, at around 15:00 GMT on Friday 6 October.

    The intruders were disturbed by the owners as they returned home.

    It is believed that three men ran off through the back garden to a waiting vehicle, containing two more men, which then drove off. Nothing was stolen.

  6. Body found in missing woman investigation

    Police investigating after a woman went missing from her home in Hammersmith have found a body.

    Katie Chopra, 41, had been reported missing from her home on 31 October.

    On Tuesday 7 November a woman's body was found in the Eastbourne area.

    The Metropolitan Police and Sussex Police say the death is not being treated as suspicious and the East Sussex Coroner has been informed.

    Katie’s family has been informed.

  7. Police release CCTV image in murder inquiry

    British Transport Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to question over the death of a 24-year-old.

    The remains of the man were spotted by a train driver close to Knockholt station, near Sevenoaks, Kent, just after midnight on Monday.

    Officers believe the victim is a 24-year-old from Croydon, British Transport Police said.

    His death was initially treated as non-suspicious but a murder inquiry has since been launched.

    The family of a 41-year-old woman are growing increasingly concerned as she has now been missing more than a week.

    Katie Chopra is believed to be in Sussex, after going missing from her Hammersmith home on Tuesday 31 October.

    It is believed she travelled from west London to Eastbourne by train, arriving around 14:00 GMT.

    Katie is 5ft 8in tall and slim with short blonde hair.

    According to Sussex Police, she has been depressed recently and there is "natural concern for her welfare".

  12. Drugs operation leads to 12 arrests

    Twelve people were in custody before 07:30 GMT after a drugs operation across north Surrey.

    Officers were deployed across Elmbridge, Runnymede and Spelthorne in the early hours of the morning.

    A spokesman for Surrey Police said the force is carrying out pre-planned activities, which are not terror-related.
