  1. Police 'dismantle' cannabis factory

    Cannabis plants

    Police have dismantled a cannabis factory at a property in Sittingbourne.

    Officers uncovered around 100 plants at a property in East Street at around 04:00 GMT on Friday 28 December.

    No arrests have yet been made, Kent Police said.

  3. Man arrested after drugs found in car

    A man has been arrested after drugs, a baton and cash were found inside a car in Northfleet.

    Police were travelling in London Road at around 21:50 GMT on Thursday 27 December when they spotted a car travelling in the opposite direction which they believed was linked to the supply of drugs.

    The officers carried out a U turn and requested the vehicle to stop but it accelerated away before coming to a stop in Cross Road, Kent Police said.

    A search of the car uncovered two bags of suspected cocaine, a baton and a quantity of cash.

    A 33-year-old man from Strood was arrested on suspicion of possessing a class A drug with intent to supply, possessing an offensive weapon, driving while disqualified and driving with no insurance.

  4. Twelve migrants found off Kent coast

    Twelve migrants in two boars have been found off the Kent coast.

    At around 03:00 GMT on Friday, HM Coastguard received reports of a small boat containing four people off the coast of Dover.

    Border Force was deployed and four men, one Syrian and three Iranians, were taken to Dover.

    At around 09:00 GMT on Friday the authorities were notified of a small boat with eight people on board.

    Border Force was deployed and eight Iranian men were taken to Dover.

    All of the migrants have been given a medical assessment and transferred to immigration officials for interview, the Home Office said.

  5. Emergency call after base jumper's parachute 'fails to fully open'

    A base jumper has fallen down a cliff at St Margaret's Bay in Kent after their parachute failed to fully open.

    Coastguard were called at 12.05 GMT by a member of the public.

    Deal and Langdon Coastguard Rescue Teams, Walmer RNLI inshore lifeboat and Lydd Coastguard helicopter are all on scene, alongside Kent Police, Kent Fire and Rescue, an Air Ambulance and the South East Coastguard Ambulance Service.

    The incident is ongoing, HM Coastguard said.

  7. Man assaulted in street

    Police appealing for witnesses after a man suffered broken bones during an assault in Ashford.

    Officers were called to Elwick Road at about 09:40 GMT on Sunday 23 December where the victim had been assaulted in the street.

    A member of the public intervened and the suspects, two men, got into a car and drove away in the direction of the roundabout at the junction with West Street.

    The victim, a man in his 20s, who had been walking along the road when the incident happened, was taken to hospital with injuries to his face and leg.

  8. Investigation into taxi driver assault

    Police are appealing for witnesses after a taxi driver was assaulted in Shoreham in the early hours of Sunday December 9.

    The assault took place in Clarendon Road, at around 01:30 GMT.

    The taxi driver suffered facial injuries and bruising to his body.

    A 28-year-old man from Shoreham was arrested on suspicion of racially or religiously aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm and racially or religiously aggravated criminal damage.

    A 25-year-old woman, also from Shoreham, was arrested on suspicion of wounding or inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.

    Both have been released under investigation.

  9. Teenagers arrested after man pelted with rocks in front of family

    A man who was walking in a park with his family was injured after rocks were thrown at him following an altercation with a group of teenagers.

    The man, who is in his 30s, was with his partner and two young children at Hollybank Recreation Ground, Emsworth, Hampshire, on Wednesday.

    The altercation involved five or six youths aged between 13 and 16, one of whom was riding a mini-motorcycle around the park.

    The rocks caused an injury to his eye and he needed stitches at Queen Alexandra Hospital.

    A 13-year-old boy from Emsworth, a 14-year-old boy from Southbourne in West Sussex, and a 15-year-old boy also from Southbourne have since been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and released while investigations continue.
