He said: "We know how much this game means to fans – and many are willing to pay the sky-high prices that are being asked.

"However, the risk you run by buying one of these tickets is huge.

"Not only could you be refused entry to the ground – you will almost definitely lose your money as there is little or no recourse to regain that money yourself.

"The force is also investigating people who are selling tickets online, particularly by social media.”

M1 smart motorway upgrade cost £125m

Kevin Stanley

Reporter, BBC Radio Nottingham

Highways England has invested more than £125m upgrading a section of the M1 to a smart motorway.

It allows variable speed limits to be used on the section between Junctions 23a and Junction 25, which helps to adjust the flow of traffic to ease congestion.

Sensors by the side of the road work out when vehicles are slowing down, and signs above the carriageway change the mandatory speed limits accordingly.

Highways England monitors motorways and trunk roads from a series of regional control centres. Its operators can trigger various aspects of the smart motorway, including “Red X” instructions, which close one or more lanes at a time.

Dry winter hitting farmers hard

You might not be enjoying this week's wet weather but farmers in the East Midlands are warning of the effects the dry winter and spring is having on their crops and businesses.

Government 'has total confidence' in rail bidding system

Gavin Bevis

BBC News

The Department for Transport has released a statement after Stagecoach confirmed it was taking legal action over its disqualification from the bidding process for the East Midlands rail franchise.

A spokesperson said: "Stagecoach is an experienced bidder who knowingly submitted non-compliant bids on all competitions. In doing so, they disqualified themselves.

"We do not comment on legal proceedings. However, we have total confidence in our franchise competition process and will robustly defend decisions that were taken fairly following a thorough and impartial evaluation process."

Stagecoach: No choice but to pursue legal action

Gavin Bevis

BBC News

Stagecoach chief executive Martin Griffiths said the company was "deeply concerned" about how the Department for Transport handled procurement of the East Midlands, South Eastern and West Coast rail franchises.

He said: "Despite our continued requests for full transparency around these matters, many fundamental questions remain unanswered.

"As a result, regrettably we have had no option but to commence legal action against the DfT to ensure the serious issues involved and the DfT's opaque decision-making are subject to proper public scrutiny."

He continued: "In view of the legal action we have taken today, we believe it would be untenable for the DfT to proceed to sign any contract for the East Midlands franchise without a full and proper review of the procurement of that franchise to help restore public confidence in the process."

The Department for Transport said at the time of Stagecoach's disqualification the company had "repeatedly ignored established rules" and that other bidders had met its requirements.

Stagecoach taking legal action over East Mids snub

Press Association

Stagecoach - the owner of East Midlands Trains - has launched legal action against the Department for Transport over its disqualification from the East Midlands rail franchise competition, the company has said.

Last month, the DfT rejected Stagecoach bids for the East Midlands franchise, the South Eastern franchise with Alstom, and a renewal of the West Coast franchise with Virgin Trains and France's SNCF because they did not meet pensions rules.

Stagecoach said it could have been left with liabilities of £1.6bn if it had agreed to accept pension risks.
