Lib Dem swing in East Cambs unable to topple Tories

There were significant gains for the Liberal Democrats at East Cambridgeshire District Council, where they won 11 seats from the Conservatives and ousted the council's only independent member.

However, it was not enough to oust the ruling Tories.

The Lib Dems gained 12 seats - 11 from the Tories and one from an independent.
