The Met said they wish to speak to the man in connection with the attacks

Police have released a new image of a man they are trying to find following a series of sex attacks on buses in east and north London within the space of three months.

Nine assaults were reported to police between 4 July and 25 September on bus routes including the 38, 48, 279, 254, 149 and 253.

The Met said the women who were attacked were aged between 23 and 62 year old and were all left "feeling very upset and shocked".

“We have carried out extensive inquiries to try and identify this man, and we are now asking the public to contact us if they recognise him", PC Chris Bowman.

Record store owner 'frustrated' by Westfield delays

Local Democracy Reporting Service

Duncan Barnes
Tara O'Connor

There has been a "horrible decline" in footfall for Croydon town centre according to one business owner who blames Westfield delays.

Duncan Barnes runs 101 Records which moved to North End in 1991 - it was previously based near East Croydon station.

He said that 10 years ago empty shops in Croydon were unheard of, and you just need to walk through the town centre to see that is not the case today.

“Footfall has declined horribly in Croydon for years. It used to be a thriving cosmopolitan place and it was always busy.”

Mr Barnes believes that Westfield delays are partly to blame and does not think the billion pound shopping centre will ever be built.

Croydon Partnership

On 1 November, the Croydon Partnership, a joint venture between Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield and Hammerson announced that plans for the shopping centre could be different from what was originally planned.

The team behind the regeneration had an "encouraging" meeting with Croydon Council where it was revealed that a hotel, more offices and fewer parking spaces and more co-working office spaces could all be a feature of of revised plans.

However, like many in Croydon Mr Barnes is not convinced that the scheme, which has faced a number of delays will happen at all.

"Initially there was a lot of enthusiasm for it – Croydon has been crying out for something to be done. But after a while and promises and promises you realise nothing is going to happen," he said.

A spokesperson for the Croydon Partnership said that it is working on plans to improve the town centre, but added that footfall in Croydon is up compared to last year.

“We are working closely with both the Croydon Business Improvement District and the Council to deliver a range of measures to help increase footfall, improve the environment and introduce more activity in the town centre,” said the spokesperson.

Titian's Perseus and Andromeda is the first work that will ever be loaned by the Wallace Collection in its 119-year history.

The inaugural loan from the renowned London-based collection will see the historic painting join the National Gallery's forthcoming exhibition Titian: Love, Desire, Death.

It will reunite the Italian Renaissance artist's six great mythological paintings, known as the "poesie", for the first time since the late 16th century.

Titian's six large-scale mythological paintings, completed between around 1551 and 1562, will be displayed at the National Gallery next March.

In return the National Gallery will lend Rubens' A View of Het Steen in the Early Morning to the Wallace Collection, where it will be displayed alongside the Flemish artist's companion piece The Rainbow Landscape.

The two works of art will sit alongside each other for the first time in more than 200 years from May to September next year.

The move to share Titian's great painting comes after the Wallace Collection announced that it would loan works on a temporary basis for the first time in its history.

The Wallace Collection displays the art collections collated by the first four Marquesses of Hertford and Sir Richard Wallace, and was bequeathed to the British nation by Lady Wallace in 1897 before being opened to the public as a museum in 1900.

Dr Xavier Bray, the collection's director, called the swap "an unprecedented moment in art history".

Transport for London fares frozen until 'end of 2020'

BBC

Transport for London fares will remain the same for another year, it has been announced.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said the price freeze on all fares for buses, trams, and single pay-as-you-go Tube and DLR journeys until the end of 2020.

It marks the final stage of his campaign commitment to a four-year fare freeze when he ran for mayor in May 2016.

The freeze does not include daily and weekly price caps, or weekly, monthly and annual travel cards. Increases in these fares are set in agreement with train operators under regulations set by the Government, meaning they will rise by the July RPI inflation measure of 2.8%.

In 2016 rail bosses estimated the fare freeze would would cost TfL £1.9bn.

Mr Khan said: "Alongside my £1.50 Hopper fare - which allows people unlimited changes on bus and tram journeys for free within an hour - we are making transport more affordable for millions of Londoners."

She intercepted secret German communications and passed them to the code breakers at Bletchley Park during World War Two – the same team who went on to break the Enigma code.

Later, working as a producer at the BBC, Pat Davies was integral to delivering live coverage of the moon landing in 1969 to mystified viewers in the UK.

The autumn after, she arranged a sit down with Neil Armstrong, and listened as he described the powdery quality of moon dust in a Notting Hill Gate hotel room.

Mrs Davies, now 96, has been involved in some of the most iconic and decisive moments of the century.

Now, the Chiswick resident has been conferred with the Freedom of the Borough, the highest honour Hounslow Council can award in recognition of her services to the Nation and the Borough.

Pat was also recently awarded the Legion D’Honneur, the highest French order of merit, by the French Government.

She had a piece of advice for other young women: “If you know what you want to do, then go for it, because you know better than other people.

“I wanted to be a journalist and that, in fact, worked out as the most interesting carrier I could have had.”
