'Jof brought a tear to my eyes' - Jordan

Sussex Chris Jordan admits that he felt emotional watching his Sussex and England team-mate Jofra Archer keep his nerve under pressure in last night's electrifying Lord's finale.

Jordan was the man who discovered his fellow Bajan back home in their native Barbados, before helping him to bring him to Sussex in 2016.

“I was sat there thinking regardless of what happens, I’m still very proud of him to have even got to this stage on that journey," Jordan told BBC Sussex.

“Watching Jof go through all that brought so many emotions. I found it hard to get my words out but it brought a tear to my eyes."

As to whether Lord's Archer would be the man for the job in what proved to be a Champagne Super Over, Jordan added: "He was the best person in that team to do the job.

"I'm not at all surprised. I called it from the start. He has plenty of variations and was the most fitting person for that final over. No occasion is too big for him.”

The trust said its aim was to be rated "outstanding" by 2020.

Do you recognise this dog owner?

Woman people are looking to trace
Sussex Police

Police in Crawley want to talk this woman, seen with her Chihuahua dog, over racial abuse directed at another dog walker in a Crawley park.

The victim of the abuse, a local woman, was walking her own dog in Tilgate Park when the Chihuahua came up to them.

The Chihuahua owner then approached and kicked the victim's dog hard across the grass several times.

When the local woman remonstrated with her for this cruelty, the woman pictured reportedly racially abused her.

The woman pictured, who police want to talk to is described as white, about 19 years old, 5'8", with long "whitish" hair, and of medium build, wearing tight blue tie-dye jeans, a khaki bomber jacket with two orange stripes on the cuff, black trainers, and an ankle bracelet and a ring on the middle finger.

Another woman who was with her during the incident at 16:00 on Wednesday 19 June, is described as white, about 19, 5'9", with long black or very dark brown hair, and of heavy build, wearing black trainers, black leggings, and a high waist beige off the shoulder jumper.

Sussex Police have confirmed the body of a woman found at the foot of Beachy Head, near Eastbourne, on 1 June was that of a human rights lawyer from Hove.

Simone Burns, 50, had just served less than two months of a six month prison sentence for being drunk on a plane and assaulting cabin crew.

The abuse on the flight from Mumbai to London last year was filmed and the footage went viral.

Officers said her death was not being treated as suspicious and the matter had been passed to the East Sussex Coroner’s office.
