Police investigate after woman raped in passageway

An 18-year-old woman has been attacked and raped in Bolton.

Thorns Road

The attack took place in a narrow passageway off Thorns Road in the early hours of Saturday, between 03:15 and 04:00.

The victim is receiving support from specially-trained officers.

Det Insp Damian Threader said there would be an increased police presence in the area in the coming days.

Police have also appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Boy, 14, dies after crash in police pursuit

A 14-year-old boy has died after crashing a car that was being chased by police.

He died in hospital early on Saturday morning following a pursuit in Greater Manchester on Friday.

Officers had tried to stop a Fiat 500 they believed was stolen in Golborne, between Warrington and Wigan.

After a short chase the car crashed into two others. The boy who died had been driving. His passengers, aged 14 and 15, were also taken to hospital.

Greater Manchester tram network still affected

Friday evening commuters may experience delays tonight following the earlier incident at the Arndale Centre.

The tram tracks at Exchange Square, right in the heart of Manchester city centre, remain blocked.

Rochdale - East Didsbury services will be operating via Market Street and Shudehill only and will not call at Exchange Square.

Four people have been injured - one seriously - after a number of stabbings at Manchester's Arndale Centre.

A witness described seeing "a man running around with a knife lunging at multiple people" shortly after 11:15.

The shopping centre was evacuated as police detained a suspect.

A 19-year-old woman and another woman were both taken to hospital with stab injuries and their condition was described as stable.

A man in his 50s was also treated for stab wounds, while a woman in her 40s was treated by paramedics at the scene but was not stabbed.

A fifth person presented at hospital with a superficial wound but did not require treatment

A man, 41, is being held on suspicion of terror offences.
