  1. Today set to be mostly dry with sunny spells

    It's a misty and foggy start for some parts of the region but that will lift to leave a dry day with sunny spells and highs of 10C.

    There might be some patchy cloud later, perhaps bringing the chance of an odd light shower.

    This evening, any lingering showers will ease to leave a largely dry, clear night but a few showers may develop towards dawn with a light breeze and lows of -2C.

  2. Temperatures set to stay cool

    This morning we have another chilly, dry and bright start to the day with clear skies and sunny spells.

    Cloud will build a little through this afternoon with a chance of the odd shower later on, and sunshine too.

    The temperature is set to stay cool with highs of 11C.

    It will turn clearer and drier by the early hours of tomorrow with a cold and frosty night to come and temperatures down to -1C.

  3. 'Crazy' spring snow in the Peak District

    The spring snow took walkers in the Peak District by surprise at the weekend.

    Sue Ross, who took the photo below, said: "I walked from Edale up Jacobs ladder.

    "Absolutely stunning scenery and hadn’t been expecting so much snow."

    Wesley Kristopher spent both both days in the Peak District and said the weather on Saturday was "crazy".

    "Quite a few places in the Peak had snow but in the surrounding areas it was like a typical April showers day," he said.

  4. 'His legacy for young people will live on'

    Police forces in the region have added their tributes to the Duke of Edinburgh after his death was announced shortly after 12:00.

    Derbyshire Police Chief Constable Rachel Swann said: "Together with each police force in England and Wales, Derbyshire Constabulary offer our condolences to the Royal Family and join the nation in mourning this sad news."

    Leicestershire's Chief Constable Simon Cole said: "We have had the privilege of supporting visits that he has made to the force area on a number of occasions.

    "The legacy for young people created by the Duke of Edinburgh's Award will live on in his memory."

    And Nottinghamshire Police said: "As a force we are deeply saddened by the death of His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh. Our thoughts are with Her Majesty the Queen and her family."

    Friday sees another slightly milder start, with most of us waking up to temperatures of about 5C.

    It won't get much warmer, with highs of 10C - and some scattered rain showers are expected across the region in the morning.

    But temperatures are set to dip to freezing and below again overnight.

    It's a warmer start than we've been used to, with temperatures of about 4C (39F).

    This is expected to rise to about 11C (52F), and it will generally stay dry but cloudy.
