Police van incident leaves woman with life-changing injuries

Preston Crown Court has heard how a woman suffered life-changing injuries after being pinned against a wall by a police van in Kendal.

The van was being driven by Sgt John McCreadie, from Cumbria Police, who - along with colleagues - had been called to Beast Banks after members of the public reported a violent row involving the woman and her former partner.

Sgt McCreadie, 53, says he was using the van to try to block the path of her former partner.

He denies causing serious injury by dangerous driving. The trial continues.
