Lea Michele has announced the titles of her upcoming debut solo album and its first single.

The Glee star tweeted that Cannonball would be the first track off Louder.

"So excited for everyone to hear my first single," said the actress.

Michele, 27, has previously said she would pay tribute to Cory Monteith on her album. The Glee actress's former co-star and boyfriend Monteith died aged 31 in July after overdosing on heroin and alcohol.

A tribute show for the actor was broadcast in the UK on 18 October.

Another tweet revealed that Cannonball was written by Australian jazz and pop singer-songwriter Sia Furler.

Furler has worked with several chart-toppers in the past including Jessie J, Britney Spears and Rihanna.

She also co-wrote Ne-Yo's Let Me Love You and Rita Ora's Radioactive among other tracks.

As well as preparing her album, Michele is also filming series six of Glee.

The show leads the nominations for the People's Choice Awards 2014, with eight nods in total.

She has played Rachel Berry in the US show since it started in 2009.

The actress is also set to release her first book, Brunette Ambition, next year.

Lea Michelle's debut album Louder is available for pre-order from 10 December.
