Two community hospitals in Forest of Dean to close

Two community hospitals - the Dilke and Lydney - in the Forest of Dean are to close.

They'll be replaced by a new £11m hospital, despite the proposed plans being rejected by most people in a public consultation.

The NHS says the current hospitals are no longer fit for purpose and the district needs a modern facility.

BreakingHealth trusts concur: Forest of Dean hospitals to close

Both NHS Trusts, voting whether to keep two Forest of Dean hospitals, have voted to close them.

It means the hospitals will close and be replaced by a new £11m hospital - the service provision and location of which are still to be determined.
