An MP has accused foreign secretary Boris Johnson of putting his own ambitions before the needs of patients and the NHS.
Mr Johnson was rebuked by Theresa May on Tuesday for publicly calling for more money for the health service after Brexit.
Liz Kendall, MP for Leicester West, said: "You know this is all about Boris Johnson trying to get headlines because he still wants to be Prime Minister of this country.
"People know it is all about him and that is what, I feel, a lot of people in the NHS will feel aggrieved about".
The BBC understands Mr Johnson did not end up mentioning "specific" amounts of cash at Tuesday's cabinet meeting.
