Lib Dems hold Caithness by slim majority

The Liberal Democrats hold Caithness, Sutherland & Easter Ross by a mere 204 votes.

Jamie Stone got more than 37% of the vote but his majority was cut by 1,840.

Caithness, Sutherland & Easter Ross: Liberal Democrat hold

Jamie Stone has been re-elected as the MP for Caithness, Sutherland & Easter Ross, with a decreased majority.

The Liberal Democrat candidate beat the SNP's Karl Rosie by just 204 votes, less than half the majority at the 2017 election.

Andrew Sinclair of the Conservative Party came third and Labour's Cheryl McDonald came fourth.

Voter turnout was up by 1.1 percentage points since the last general election.

More than 31,000 people, roughly two-thirds of those eligible to vote, went to polling stations across the area on Thursday, in the first December general election since 1923.

One of the five candidates, Sandra Skinner (The Brexit Party), lost her £500 deposit after failing to win 5% of the vote.
