Avon Fire and Rescue is considering only turning up to high-risk automatic alarms, to reduce the number of false call-outs they get.

It's one of a number of measures they're considering to make sure firefighters are turning up to real emergencies - and quickly enough.

Other proposals include responding to emergencies depending on the level of risk people face, rather than on population density.

The aim of the changes is to help the service focus on prevention, and critical training.

Tonight the changes are being talked about a a public meeting in Fishponds.
