Residential outdoor learning centres in the South West say they're at risk or closure if they cannot get financial help from the government.

An activity centre on Dartmoor which offers residential education to schools says it has lost the bulk of its business as under coronavirus restrictions children are not allowed to stay overnight.

The chair of Trustees at Heatree Activity Centre said there has been "uncertainty" over when the centre will be able to open again to offer outdoor education.

"Personally I've had to go through a redundancy process and taken a number of voluntary redundancies" said Jonathan Bishop.

"That has big impacts, not just on their livelihoods, but also the people that are remaining" he added.

The centres claim they have been left in limbo, but the Department of Education says it keeps all guidance under review.
